Title:

An introduction to modular and automorphic forms

Abstract:

We give motivation for the use of modular forms and automorphic forms in number theory. We will talk lightly on the use of zeta functions, L-functions, and Eisenstein series and their respective roles in the prime number theorem, the (generalized) Riemann Hypothesis, and the sum of squares problem.
