Abstract

The torus is a very important object in the fields of Lie groups and algebraic topology. It is a fundamental example of a topological group and manifold. Although the torus is usually thought of as the surface of a doughnut embedded in 3-space, we can generalize this concept to spaces with higher dimension. In this talk, we define the n-torus and derive some basic properties and quotient maps.
