Verifying Einstein's Theory of General Relativity using First-Semester Differential Equations

Abstract: An important confirmation of the theory of general relativity was its explanation for the precession in the orbit of Mercury. In this talk, we will show how this precession was predicted using only standard topics from Math 3410 (Differential Equations I). No prior knowledge of physics will be assumed for this talk.
