Congratulations to the Prize Winners at the Big Data Challenge

This year's Big Data Challenge, jointly sponsored by UNT, Sabre, and DHISCO, focussed on the analysis of big data in the travel industy. Two teams of mathematics graduate students were among the prize winners.

Team STATship Enterprise, consisting of graduate students Jennifer McCluskey, Bailu Zhang, Di Wu, Alex Creiner, and Devon Henkis, took Second Place in the DHISCO competition and also won the award from the Toulouse Graduate School for the Best Technological/Analytical Approach.

Team Stat Trek, consisting of graduate students Sarah Saeedi, Yujie Yan, Zohreh Sharif Kazemi, Zubair Khan, Jie Zhou and joined by Victor Song, won the Sabre award for Best Innovation Solution.

Congratulations also to department members Professor Kai-Sheng Song, who mentored both winning teams, and to Professor Michael Monticino, who organizes the Big Data Challenge.
