On November 18, 2014, the department welcomed 55 such kids from the DFW region. They spent 40 minutes working on the AMC 8, the American Mathematics Competition for 8th grade and below. The youngest participant was a 5th grader from Denton. We had participants coming from as far as Plano and Fort Worth. Most students were chauffeured by their parents. At least one student was accompanied by both parents and a grand-parent. While the students were working on their math problems, the department entertained the parents and guardians with a reception. There were an estimate of 70 adults at the reception.
