Title: Congruences of Hurwitz class numbers

Abstract: I will report on recent joint work with Olivia Beckwith and Martin Raum, and I will explain how automorphic forms can be used to study congruences of Hurwitz class numbers. The talk will be for non-experts and should be accessible to graduate students interested in algebra and number theory.
