Abstract:

Rank one transformations have been extensively studied as measure theoretic dynamical systems. However, the topological analogue of rank one transformations, rank one subshifts still have many properties unknown. In this talk, I will present new results about rank one subshifts, in particular, characterising the maximal equicontinuous factor, and determining when a rank one subshift can be mixing or weakly mixing.
