A drawing of the old Chateau-d'Alfort. A veterinarian school, École Vétérinaire d'Alfort, was founded on this site in 1765 and the castle was removed. Fourcroy was one of the chemists first named to be a professor at the school (remember the practice of cumul in France, where a professor retained several simultaneous posts), but the professor who is of interest to "Rediscovery" scholars is Dulong, who spent as much time as he could at the Berthollet laboratory {LINK to paris7-200.jpg} and developed the Dulong-Petit Law. This school was 7 km southeast of central Paris.
