This is a display in the school, showing the area of the former glassworks, as well as showing the portraits of young Mendeleev (center) with his mother (Maria Dmitrievna Mendeleeva) and father (right, Ivan Pavlovich Mendeleev). The father died in 1847, a year before the glass factory, where Mendeleev learned the rudiments of chemistry, burned down completely in 1848. A year later Mendeleev, now 15, was taken by his mother north to matriculate for university schooling, finally settling in St. Petersburg. Courtesy, Evgenie Ivanovich Promotov, Tobolsk Tourist Agency.
