This is the view eastward on Chambers Street, with the museum on the right, barely visible behind the scaffolding. The Old University, where Joseph Black and Daniel Rutherford did their work, is to the right (south). All traces of the Old University are now gone, and records describing it are scanty. The Old University was replaced by the New University starting 1789-1827. Maps that follow will detail the research the authors performed in order to elucidate the location of important sites associated with Black and Rutherford.
