Another example of galena crystals imbedded in the granite matrix. This is the usual appearance of galena in Strontian rocks -- small metallic-appearing crystals in anorthosite, is a form of granite which is poor in quartz but rich in white feldspar. Galena was the mineral processed for its lead -- the ore was crushed, taken down to the smelter (the present post office), and smelted to produce the metal.
