Otto Hahn

1879-1968

He was a professor of chemistry at the University of Berlin in Berlin, Germany, and President of the Max Planck Society for the Promotion of Science. He was codiscoverer (with Lise Meitner) of protactinium and of nuclear fission — that neutron irradiation of uranium and thorium by neutrons split these atoms.
