A common introduction to the theory of braids usually starts with a braid being described as a collection of strings attached to some fixed points in space. In this talk, we give the original definition of the braid groups given by Artin (1925) involving fundamental groups and show how this construction can generalized to any reflection group. And in doing so, we create an important correspondence between braids and reflections.
