In this talk I will recall the definitions of an alpha-pseudo orbit, a Beta-shadow and a distance expanding map. I will look at examples of distance expanding maps, and then I will build towards the proof that the periodic points of a transitive open distance expanding map on a compact metric space are dense. I will then show that the periodic points of an open distance expanding map on a connected compact metric space are dense.
