Boolean algebras have a characteristic based on the structure of atomic and atomless elements within a series of ideals. This characteristic actually completely characterises Boolean algebras up to elementary equivalence.
In this talk, we introduce the ideal analysis necessary to define the characteristic and show that two elementarily equivalent Boolean algebras necessarily have the same characteristic.
