"Lebesgue Measurable Sets and the Baire Property in ZFC "

We will investigate what sets are Lebesgue measurable and have the Baire property in ZFC. We first show that the Suslin operation preserves Lebesgue measure, thus showing that the C-sets which are contained in Δ12 are Lebesgue measurable. We then show that there are non-measurable Δ12 sets in the constructible universe, L, showing that measurability of Δ12 is independent of ZFC. Finally, using Cohen forcing, we show Σ11 sets have the Baire property.

Cookies and coffee will be served in GAB 472 following this event.
