Abstract:

In this learning seminar, we will discuss the basics of
cellular algebras. Cellular algebras are algebras endowed with bases
which have certain multiplicative properties. We'll give the
definition, and we'll go over two main examples, the ring of
n by n matrices and the Hecke algebra of type A. Time permitting,
we'll also discuss the cellular structure of the Ariki-Koike algebra.
