Abstract:

In this continuation from last week's learning seminar, we'll examine the cellular structure of a polynomial ring mod a certain ideal. We'll also give the tools needed to discuss the cellular structure of the Hecke algebra of type A. These tools include the dominance order for partitions of n, standard Young tableaux, the Robinson-Schensted insertion algorithm, and Coxeter groups. Time permitting, we'll discuss the cellular structure of the Ariki-Koike algebra as well.
