Congratulations to Laxmi Paudel for obtaining his Ph.D.

Laxmi defended his dissertation "Traveling Wave Solutions of the Porous Medium Equation" on Friday, March 8, 2013. His advisor is Dr. Joe Iaia.

``Traveling Wave Solutions of the Porous Medium Equation with Degenerate Interfaces'' is also the title of the paper that Laxmi and Dr. Iaia wrote and that will appear in the April 2013 edition of Nonlinear Analysis Series A: Theory, Methods, and Applications. In this paper, they look for a special type of solution to the porous medium equation which reduces a nonlinear partial differential equation to a nonlinear ordinary differential equation.

Laxmi grew up in Nepal and he enjoys movies, music, and swimming. He and his wife have two young children.
