This presitgious scholarship in the amount of $6,000 will help fund Sarah's postgraduate education in sports management at Witchita State University.

Sarah, who is completing her student teaching this semester at The Colony High School, still plans to eventually teach math. Sarah, who was attracted to a career in mathematics teaching because of her mathematical talent and her love of logic, says that she credits a lot of her success in volleyball to her being "math brained." She explained, "I was a very technical volleyball player and believed a lot in certain philosophies. My job on the volleyball court was to pass the ball, and having a very good understanding of angles and velocties allowed me to be successful. I looked at volleyball as more then just a sport I love to play. I looked at it as a science, and I broke it down - justified all of my movements. Those qualities helped me to be the best I could be."
