Abstract: In this talk we will discuss the construction of certain representations of Lie algebras. More specifically, we will recall how knowledge of the first and second cohomologies can be used to classify certain length extensions. If time allows, we will discuss current research specific to the Lie algebras Vec(R), Vec(T) (the Witt algebra), and the Virasoro algebra.
