This week in the Graduate Algebra Group, we have Dillon Hanson giving an intro talk about tensor and wedge products, operators that come up quite a bit in algebra research.
Title: Intro to Tensor and Wedge Products
Abstract: The tensor and wedge products are two means of combining vector spaces that is distinct from taking a direct sum or direct product. Indeed, the tensor product of V and itself feels similar to V x V, but with different addition and scalar multiplication. This will be an introduction to the tensor and wedge products as well as the tensor, symmetric, and exterior algebras that arise from them. A few applications will be discussed as time permits.
