Abstract: In this series of two talks, we will introduce normal numbers and their connections to ergodic theory, fractal geometry, number theory, and probability theory assuming only an understanding of the concept of a limit. Normal numbers with respect to b-ary expansions, continued fraction expansions, $\beta$ expansions, Luroth series expansion, and Cantor series expansions may be presented. The theory of normal numbers with respect to the Cantor series expansions appears to be far richer and we will discuss many challenging (but accessible!) open problems
