"Modular Forms of Γ(2) and Representations of S₃ "

ABSTRACT:

Modular forms are holomorphic functions from the upper complex half-plane to the complex numbers that satisfy a transformation property and are regular at infinity. Γ(2) is the group of 2x2 matrices in SL₂(Z) that are equivalent to the identity matrix modulo 2. In this project we explore the vector space of modular forms of weight k and level 2, also known as M_k(Γ(2)), as an S₃ representation. To do this, we find constants u(k), u'(k), and v(k), based on the weight k, so that M_k(Γ(2))=u(k)U+u'(k)U'+v(k)V for the three representations of S₃, U, U', and V.
