Abstract:

We are familiar with the usual definitions of inner product and cross product in a space where we have coordinates. But, if we start with a synthetic, coordinate-free space, are we still able to develop these definitions? How far can we proceed without coordinates? We intend to show that it is possible and we recover the usual coordinate-wise definitions of inner product and cross product via a synthetic approach. We show that a 3-space has a natural structure of a vector space, and making an identification with the usual Euclidian space is made possible.
