Abstract: Simply looking into a mirror or staring at a pond we notice a phenomenon that lead to a concept so basic and intrinsic that it almost defies the need for description, yet at its core, its simplicity makes it a very valuable tool of geometry. In this first talk of two, we discuss the basics of reflections and reflection groups. We define reflections, analyze some important properties, and give the classification of all complex reflection groups.
