Abstract: I will motivate and prove a theorem on the orbit equivalence relations induced by actions of non-Archimedean abelian Polish groups. The theorem states that if such an equivalence relation is essentially countable, then in fact it is essentially hyperfinite. Time permitting I will give a survey of other results on the Borel complexity of these orbit equivalence relations.
