Math Lab Tutors are model students who provide drop-in math tutoring to undergraduate
students. They offer holistic support for a variety of math courses, taking a student-centered
approach to tutoring. In order to become a Math Lab Tutor, you must meet the following
requirements:
- Possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good standing with the University
- Earned an “A” in the courses you can tutor
- Exhibit a passion for student success and an enthusiasm for education
- Exhibit good people skills as well as excellent communication skills
- Availability to work 4-15 hours each week
- Availability to work some evening and weekend hours
- Tutoring experience is preferred
- Ability to tutor upper-level math courses is preferred
- Ability to tutor through Calculus II (MATH 1720) is preferred
- Math majors are preferred
- Graduation date no earlier than May 2026 is preferred

Applications to become a Math Lab Tutor will be posted on Handshake by November for Spring positions, and by April for Fall positions. Applications are
accepted until all positions are filled, so do not wait to apply!
