Degree Programs

We offer both Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Mathematics, along with specialized options to fit your interests and career goals:

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics
A mathematically intensive degree is ideal for students pursuing graduate school, STEM careers, or roles in data science, analytics, or actuarial science. Includes an optional concentration in Computer Science.

Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Mathematics
Offers flexibility to pair mathematics with other interests. Ideal for students interested in double majors, the liberal arts, or those planning to pursue a career in teaching

Teacher Certification Option
Combine your mathematics degree with coursework to prepare for certification to teach secondary-level math in Texas.

The Math Placement Test
Before enrolling in your first math course at UNT, it's essential to make sure you're placed in the class that best fits your current skill level. The Math Placement process helps ensure you're on the right track for success, whether you're starting with algebra, precalculus, or calculus. Math Lab

Free tutoring for students enrolled in 1000- and 2000-level math courses. Trained tutors staff the Math Lab and are open throughout the week to support your learning.

Early Math Support Lab
Specialized support for students in MATH 1580, 1581, and 1680. The lab offers additional resources, practice, and one-on-one help to strengthen your foundational skills.

Scholarships
We’re delighted to support our students with a variety of scholarships for math majors—whether you’re a coming freshman, a future math teacher, or a continuing student showing excellence in your courses. Our department offers scholarships for both incoming and continuing math majors, including awards for academic achievement and those intended for future educators.
