The Mathematics Department has a regular need for part-time adjunct faculty instructors in the fall and spring semesters to teach on our Denton campus. Our need in the spring is smaller than in the fall, so during the spring we generally only hire adjuncts who have previously been employed by us. We review applications for new part-time adjunct instructors for the fall semesters each May or June. We generally do not have a need for adjuncts during our summer terms.

Please apply here for the 2024-25 academic year (fall 2024, spring 2025, and/or summer 2025):

You will be asked to attach a current CV to your application. Include your level of education in your CV. We will usually only hire adjuncts who hold at least a Master's degree in mathematics or closely related field (such as statistics). The application will ask about your prior experience teaching introductory college mathematics courses and ask you to discuss your experience with various online learning platforms (e.g. Canvas, ALEKS, MyMathLab, Webassign). It is also helpful to have a sense of your prior experience supervising teaching assistants and how you coordinate and mentor them. A description of your prior experience managing class sizes of around 100 students is also helpful.

New adjuncts should be prepared to teach either in the early morning (8:00 a.m.), late afternoons (3:30-5:00), or evenings (5:00 or later).

Note that in order to be considered for an adjunct instructor position in the Mathematics Department, you must already have authorization to be employed in the United States, for instance because you are a US citizen, a permanent resident, or you will be in OPT status on a student visa that will be valid for the full semester in which you are seeking employment. Also, adjunct instructors cannot be UNT students enrolled in classes during the term they are employed as an adjunct instructor.

E-mail Krista Hines at krista.hines@unt.edu if you have questions about adjunct instructor positions and the hiring process.
